Nevado Artesonraju

DAY 1: Huaraz - Parón - Artesonraju Base Camp (4500 masl).

Paron Lake

We leave from Huaraz city by bus towards north of Callejon de Huaylas, passing through cities as Carhuaz, Yungay, and Caraz, following the Rio Santa and observing part of the Cordillera Blanca and Cordillera Negra, then go through the Paron valley towards the Paron lake, where we start the trekking up to the Artesonraju Base Camp, observing mountains as the North peak (6395 masl) and East peak (5900 masl) of Huandoy, Pisco (5752 masl) and Piramide  (5885 masl). About 5 to 6 hours.

DAY 2: Artesonraju Base Camp - Camp I (5200 masl).

In our second day we ascend in a zig zag path, then walk over the ice (mountain gear is required) and reach the Camp I, from where we have views of mountains such as Paria (5720 masl), Artesonraju (6025 masl) and Caraz (6023 masl). About 6 to 7 hours.

DAY 3: Camp I - Artesonraju Summit (6025 masl) - Camp I.

We leave at dawn and climb the technical wall, then reach the Summit from where we have a panoramic view of the Cordillera Blanca from north to south, rappels are needed to descend and reach the Camp I. About 9 to 12 hours.

DAY 4: Camp I - Artesonraju Base Camp.

We descend to Base Camp. About 5 to 6 hours.

DAY 5: Base Camp - Caraz - Huaraz.

After leaving from the base Camp we walk towards the Paron lake, where our van will be waiting for to take us back to Huaraz city.
