Chopicalqui Mountain

DAY 1: Huaraz - Llanganuco Valley - Chopicalqui Base Camp (4400 masl).

Laguna Chinancocha - Quebrada Llanganuco

We leave from Huaraz city by van towards north of Callejon de Huaylas, passing through cities as Carhuaz and Yungay, we also pass through Chinancocha and Orconcocha lakes in the Llanganuco valley, observing mountains such as North Peak of Huascaran (6655 masl), South Peak of Huandoy (6150 masl), Pisco (5752 masl), Chacraraju (6112 masl) Yanapaccha (5460 masl) and Chopicalqui (6354 masl), the hike starts when we reach the path that leads to the Chopicalqui Base Camp, observing the South Peak of Huascaran (6768 masl). About 4 to 5 hours.

DAY 2: Chopicalqui Base Camp - Moraine Camp (4900 masl).

In our second day we ascend to the Moraine Camp, from where we observe the same mountains of first day. About 5 to 6 hours.

DAY 3: Moraine Camp - Camp I (5300 masl).

After leaving from the Moraine Camp we walk in an ascending path, then walk over the ice (mountain gear is required). About 5 to 6 hours.

DAY 4: Camp I - Chopicalqui Summit  (6345 masl) - Camp I.

We leave at dawn and climb observing mountains as Huandoy (6160 masl), Pisco (5752 masl), Chacraraju (6112 masl), North  Peak (6655 masl) and South Peak (6768 msnm) of  Huascaran, from the summith we have a panoramic view of important mountains of the Cordillera Blanca, and finally descend to Camp I. About 9 to 12 hours.

DAY 5: Camp I - Base Camp.

We descend to Base Camp. About 6 to 7 hours.

DAY 6: Base Camp - Huaraz.

In our return we walk towards the crosswalk, where our prívate van will be waiting for to take us back to Huaraz city.
